Melanie loves creating beautiful, colourful and highly uplifting mosaics for public art! She has just completed a one months residency funded partly by the Indian government, in Gujarat, where she represented England. Here she created artwork of her choice based on her inspirations from Gujarat. The new art collection was created with 28 international artists in all, and will be exhibited across India.
She recently created a major public art commission based on her ideas to further draw attention to declining species. Her art proved popular at a community open day and via positive social media responses, and she created a large scale peacock butterfly on a bespoke steel frame, regularly posting links to conservation sites and discussing to groups how to help save butterflies and moths via planting.
Another of her mosaics is sited in her home of M K which is on the historic Grand Union Canal – a beautiful barn owl flying through local forestry in the Autumn, taken from the artists observational drawings and photographs to create a bespoke artwork. The piece has attracted mosaic lovers from overseas and is a popular with the residents and canal users.
Melanie completed a major Public Art Mosaic where she worked collaboratively with 60 international and 20 Chilean Mosaic artists in Santiago!
The artist was selected for her bold dynamic style to create a mosaic for the famous Alan Titchmarsh’s ‘Love Your Garden’ show. Images of these mosaics can be seen below.
